Abstract :
A study is presented for the antenna gain and polarization of a cross-element log-periodic dipole array of 10-elements fed with a gridded-wire planar reflector to attain better gain and retain its frequency-independent behavior. With the help of NEC code, calculations are performed on gain, radiation patterns and impedance as a function of frequency, with stress towards the reflector effect on the antenna performance. The antenna polarization problem is investigated by applying the axial ratio curves versus φ in the 100-600 MHz frequency range. The reflector has almost no effect on the antenna polarization at its front, despite any phase change of the antenna fed currents.
