Abstract
Write-sharing of files in a distributed file system is considered as an obstacle to caching files on clients´ site. We are specially concerned with cacheability of write-shared files, and propose an ownership-based cache consistency model. With our model the server CPU loads can potentially be reduced without violating data consistency in the case of file write-sharing. We show the validity of our model with a simulation method, in terms of server utilization and network traffic.<>
