Abstract :
This paper presents an analysis of noise in mobile radio environments, using a novel wavelet family named “Pathlets” and conventional Daubechies near symmetric wavelet family member called Symlet 2. Determination of mobile radio channel parameters, for the purpose of channel modeling, is often impaired in the presence of noise. Hence the ability to characterize and model the noise process, and to use the noise characteristics advantageously to differentiate the wanted signal from noise has been at the core of modern signal processing systems. It is shown in this paper that a novel wavelet family member called Pathlet 9 is more robust to noise when compared with using Symlet 2 wavelet in digital signal post-processing algorithm, for the resolution of impinging waves in mobile radio environments.
