Abstract :
Development rate of physical layer techniques for satellite communications systems is slower, than for terrestrial wireless systems. This paper considers terrestrial wireless transmission techniques (such as UWB, OFDM, MIMO) as possible means to increase channel rates, system capacity and rational spectrum allocation in satellite communications systems. Various problems that appear during application of these techniques are discussed, and future research topics are proposed.
