Abstract
We describe an imaging algorithm designed to exploit SIMD machine architectures. Typically, an SIMD machine architecture is used to operate on the data required by the task to be performed as a whole. For example, in imaging operations, imaging tasks are performed on the entire image data as a whole. The algorithm described uses a different approach. It uses the parallelism of an SIMD machine for each scanline of the image space. It processes each scanline of the image space in sequence, but performs the actual process in parallel (SIMD type). This approach is used quite widely on MIMD machine architectures. We show how the approach is used to rotate digitized images.<>
