Abstract :
The situation of battery manufacturer as well as of the cutstomer has changed dramatically in the past 15 years, leading to strong competition, pressure on price, increased safety, power and life requirements. The controversial requirements and interests of cuistomers as well as of the battery manufactures are listed. Negative impacts and risks of the changes and requirements are mentioned and possible common tracks for the future are worked out.
