Abstract
The latest generation of multimedia plug-in cards and motherboard designs are incorporating programmable, general purpose digital signal processors from a variety of chip vendors. The proposed DSP Resource Management Interface (RMI) from Microsoft Corporation and Spectron Microsystems, Inc. will accelerate proliferation of DSP-based multimedia applications for Windows by providing a hardware-independent development environment and a standard, multitasking operating system kernel
