Abstract
The full motion video described is based on the efficient coding of three dimensional subband data. The resulting bit rates of this coder include 384 kb/s results for image sequences of medium complexity and 128 kb/s results for simpler image sequences. The image data are decomposed into spatiotemporal frequency bands and different quantization schemes are applied to each frequency band based on the characteristics of the data in that band. The lowest spatiotemporal frequency band is coded using an unbalanced tree-structured vector quantization technique where the temporal and spatial correlations are exploited in a lossless coding technique referred to as interblock noiseless coding
