Abstract
This paper presents the design of a high-speed search processor applicable to any competition-type intelligent-robots as follows: (1) a multi-agent-processor system is employed in which a search job is shared by multiple agent-processors integrated in a VLSI chip. (2) An agent-processor is constructed with a CPU specifically designed for search operation and a reconfigurable hardware, that is, an FPGA. (3) A search algorithm applicable to competition-type robots with dissymmetric functions is employed. It is demonstrated that the number of instruction steps for search using the presented processor with a single agent-processor is approximately 3/(9N+5) times that using conventional microprocessors, where N denotes the number of objects.
