Abstract :
This paper presents a method to maximize the power generated from a 3-turbine wind farm, and supply it to the grid with high power quality. Different control methods are applied to each subsystem; generation, aggregation, and finally grid connection. The control goal in the generation subsystem is to extract maximum wind power below rated wind speed, and to limit the power above rated wind speed. The aggregation subsystem employs three fuzzy logic-controlled bi-directional DC/DC single ended primary inductance converters (SEPIC) for DC power collection with fixed voltage. The subsystem connecting the wind farm to the grid is controlled to improve the power quality of the system. Power quality improvement is done via a vector-controlled current-regulated PWM inverter for synchronization to grid with unity power factor while minimizing current harmonics. The proposed system is modeled and simulation results presented proving the power quality improvement
