Abstract :
We analyse engineering design process and point out its three properties of long duration, exploration and cooperation. We survey related work of concurrency control for advanced database applications and describe our transaction management system aimed to meet the demands of design process involving many users, which contains three simple and kernel mechanisms that is, checkout/checkin, savepoint/rollback and notification.<>
