Abstract
Hewlett-Packard´s approach to the design of education and training has two components: 1. A consistent and repeatable course design management process. 2. A course design software tool to aid the production of controlled trainer and student guides. The Healthcare Education Group provides a highly valued Biomedical Engineering Programme targeted at engineers and technicians working in Healthcare. Despite working closely with Academic Institutions, obtaining academic accreditation in the past, there has not been any evidence of either employers or Professional Institutions providing any guidance or criteria against which Education and Training providers can design products. Subsequently, with the lack of a recognised professional development framework for healthcare engineers and technicians, providers will continue to deliver education and training to inconsistent standards which may be failing the profession
