Abstract
In this study, we describe a new tempo adjustment device that can be used when setting the beat of a metronome that is more intuitive than conventional methods. We began our study with an analysis of metronome operations, after which we developed the device itself. The device consists of an acceleration sensor that is set in one end of an acrylic rod, and is operated when the user swings his or her arm in time with music. The tempo value is measured using the acceleration data obtained from the acceleration sensor. Finally, we conducted verification testing to evaluate the performance of the device.
