Abstract :
This paper analyzes electromagnetic wave propagation through periodically stacked metallic fishnets from zero frequency to the first Wood´s anomaly. The close relation between wave propagation through stacked fishnets and extraordinary transmission through a single fishnet is highlighted. It is shown that, for normal incidence, stacked fishnets may behave like 1D backward-wave transmission line metamaterials.
