  • Abstract
Summary form only given, as follows. RF (Radio Frequency) transmitter is a key element in ICH (Ion Cyclotron Heating) system for the magnetic confined fusion application. 6 MW rf power will be coupled to KSTAR (Korean Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research) plasma via current drive and ion heating methods and 4 sets of 2 MW unit transmitter is needed to fulfill the above condition. The transmitter is also used to perform the high voltage test of the antenna and its components at the development period of ICH system. ICH is known to be very robust method because the high power transmitter with RP range has been developed long times ago so that it may be obtained on the shelf compared to other rf sources such as gyrotron and klystron. However, the development of 2 MW amplifier with long time duration is very challenging problem nowadays because the available tube is a few and their power dissipation is in the limit at high VSWR condition. In this presentation, the development status of transmitters for KSTAR ICH system will be introduced.
