Abstract
Presents a methodology to assist control engineers during the design and implementation of controllers for discrete event systems. Through this work, both, the system and the specification are represented by interpreted Petri nets (IPNs). The specification is given as a set of required marking sequences or as a set of forbidden markings. The controller is designed using a regulation control scheme. Finally, a methodology to translate IPNs into ladder diagrams is used to implement the controller in a programmable logic controller. This methodology is implemented in a software package
