Abstract :
This paper presents a simple method for de-embedding a symmetrical coax-to-microstrip transition in filter measurements. The method requires the measurement of two nonreflecting microstripline standards only, instead of a complete set of calibration standards for error correction. It provides an explicit solution of the error coefficients and the complex propagation constant. The de-embedded data sets are in good agreement with the TRL-calibration method. The quality of the transitions in dependence of the geometry is simulated with a field simulator and improvements are carried out.
