  • Abstract
    Analyzing the characteristics of various sensors, a method of detecting obstacle and avoiding obstacle used in electric wheelchair is presented based on the requirement of electric wheelchair obstacle avoidance. Transmitting circuit which is composed by 555 timing chip and receiving circuit which is utilized by LM393 are designed for measuring ultrasonic distance. Receiving program with ADuC842 which makes use of improved arithmetic has small error and high speed. The data precision is higher and can reach cm level. The method can detect stumbling block availably when electric wheelchair is traveling. The technique of measuring distance is simple and useful.
