Abstract :
In this paper we analyze the power performance of a spectrally phase-encoded optical code division multiple access (SPE-OCDMA) slotted packet network based on a simple protocol. The steady-state throughput and average packet delay are derived as a function of transmitted power. Gaussian approximation is used in our performance analysis to consider the shot noise, thermal noise and multiple access interference (MAI). It is shown that in a fixed bandwidth available and bit rate, increasing the code length can lead to better performance in high average powers. In low power regime, decreasing in code length leads to better performance due to lower level of activity.
