Abstract :
The asymptotes of the dispersion curves for TM waves in an anisotropic planar waveguide with positive values of the permittivity tensor are obtained from Fresnel´s equation for various values of the optical axis inclination angle in the plane of incidence. The dispersion curves have been calculated for the mode m = 1 of the TM wave for an anisotropic artificial medium with negative permittivity for extraordinary wave and positive permittivity for ordinary wave at various angles of inclination in the incidence plane.
