Abstract :
The aim of this study is to investigate the application of fuzzy set theory to Critical Path Method (CPM) in activity networks. The main purpose of CPM is to identify critical activities in a network critical path. For deterministic problems, the successful implementation of CPM requires a clear determined duration time for each activity. However, the unknowns or vagueness about the activities duration time has lead to the development of fuzzy CPM. In this study, we introduce a fuzzy approach to CPM based on statistical confidence-interval estimates of fuzzy numbers. Our work intends to extend the original deterministic problem into a more generalized problem that would be useful in practical situations
