Abstract
In this paper, we discuss several nanoprocessing procedures and their respective merits and challenges for the successful fabrication of effective spin transfer devices. Recent results of spin transfer studies that have been made with these magnetic nanopillars will also be summarised. These includes several critical tests of current theoretical models of the spin transfer effect, as well as studies of the effect of thermal fluctuations of spin transfer switching.
