Abstract
The numerical simulation of the low-voltage vircator with the controlled emission from the thermionic cathode has been carried out. The external signal effects on the beam in the formation region leading to the emission modulation are found. The strong influence of the modulation parameters on the oscillations characteristics of the beam with virtual cathode has been discovered. It has been shown that tuning of the modulation frequency to the harmonic of the virtual cathode free oscillations leads so the considerable power increase of the higher harmonics of the virtual cathode free oscillations frequency in the output spectrum.
