Abstract
This paper presents an aperture coupled microstrip antenna having a rectangular patch which is excited through an aperture coupled feed. The simulation of the designed aperture coupled microstrip antenna has been validated using the IE3d software. Simulation results show that the designed antenna can be used as a dual resonant antenna with effective return loss of -26 dB and -31 dB at 2.25 GHz and 1.55 GHz respectively. Dual frequency aperture coupled microstrip antenna may provide a substitute to large bandwidth planar antennas, in applications in which large bandwidth is really required for operating at two different transmit-received bands.
