Abstract :
The wireless technologies are emerging in our society. Specifically, the aim of this paper is to provide a framework for the comparison of IEEE 802.16 with other wireless technologies based on the common set of configurations adopted by these technologies, which include channel models, system parameters etc. CDMA2000, WCDMA and WiMAX are three widely used wireless technologies. Since they share the same goal, which is to provide broader coverage and higher throughput in an impartial comparison of their performance is necessary. This paper takes a closer look at each of these technologies and compares max. speed, channels and efficiency. This study concludes that Mobile WiMax has great potential and it is found that WiMAX can provide high throughput while the two CDMA-based technologies provide high system spectral efficiency.
