Abstract :
A new algorithm for stator differential protection is presented. The algorithm addresses extreme cases of current transformer saturation, including both AC saturation under large currents and DC saturation under small but DC offset currents. While ensuring good sensitivity and excellent security, the trip time of the actual relay hardware implementing the presented algorithm is below one power cycle.
