Abstract :
Distributed control networks running in real-life industrial environments that can support the development of plant-wide hard real-time online distributed control system (P-hard-RODCS) are rare. Due to the lack of practicalities, traditional simulation method is not feasible for realistic utilization. The practicality of constructing object-oriented nodes to simulate the plant-wide HARD real-time online distributed control system (Oosim/P-hard-RODCS) is the main concern of this research. Although P-hard-RODCS is widely available from many distributed process control system suppliers or vendors, they are at high cost. However, from the feasibility investigation and development enhancement point of views, we demand a versatile model that can: (1) handle the dynamics of hard real-time data highway traffic; and (2) can mimic the dependability of online interactive operations. The communication constraints and capabilities of the enacted objects are delineated. These objects are built from the operating system software primitives and the physical hardware units versus the traditional process-oriented evolutionary-type of development methodology.<>
