Abstract :
The paper presents the four topologies of the power converter main circuit for the three-phase 12/8 structure switched reluctance motor drive, such as the asymmetric bridge circuit, the bifilar winding circuit, the resistance commutation circuit and the common switch circuit. The comparison of the four topologies are made in the rated voltage of the switches, the rated voltage of the flywheel diodes, the average supplied voltage of phase winding, the average commutated voltage of phase winding, the numbers of the switches and the independence of the circuit. The relationship between the turn numbers per stator pole coil for the adopted 12/8 structure motor with the four coils in parallel and the turn numbers per stator pole coil for the traditional 6/4 structure motor had been described. The mathematical models of the asymmetric bridge circuit, the current rating and the voltage rating of the main switches and flywheel diodes are given. Based on the nonlinear simulation and the selection of the power components, the topology of the power converter for the 600 kW switched reluctance motor drive is presented. The simulated results of the current peak value in each IGBT module of the five parallel IGBT modules and the current average value in each diode module of the three parallel fast recovery diode modules are given
