  • Abstract
    This paper describes a new system designed and installed by the German power utility VWEW. It is a maintenance optimization and technical operation database known as TestBase. The system is capable of handling the complete maintenance process throughout the organisation. This new approach for the optimization of protection maintenance presents many new possibilities. Using a distributed database system which allows the use of a database in offline mode on-site has created new possibilities for the maintenance management process. The reproduction of maintenance procedures and test objects in the database allows companies to optimize maintenance with the highest level of efficiency while using standardized test procedures created by experts.
