Abstract :
Low power wireless personal area networks (LoWPANs) follows the IEEE 802.15.4 - 2003 standard [IEEE 802.15.4]. Short range, low bit rate, low power, and low cost are the characteristics of these devices which comes under this standard. There is some limitation with these devices such as power consumption, memory, and energy availability. 6LoWPANs is stand for IPv6 - based Low Power Wireless Personal Area Networks. For the maximum utilization of the link, header compression on the wireless link in an IP network must be used. This paper tells about the header compression of frame format and packet size in IPv6. This paper also describes the mechanism packet delivery in meshes based on IEEE 802.15.4 standard.
