Abstract :
This paper describes an advanced static VAr generator (ASVG) using gate-turn-off (GTO) thyristor inverters which is designed for power system applications. Special emphasis is placed on the system principle, computer simulation analysis, general construction and experimental results. The operating results achieved by the prototype in the laboratory show that the ASVG has the feature of flexible regulation, fast response and promising development future.<>
