Insufficiency of watt-metric protection in resonant grounded networks

Implementation of resonant grounding in the medium voltage (MV) rural distribution networks is in the process of consideration in Croatia. For analytical purposes, some calculations on a proposed ´typical´ rural distribution network are conducted followed by the presentation of live measurements on a similar real network. Based on calculations, influence of resonant grounding on watt-metric protection behaviour is presented in this article. This influence is compared with data found in the literature and those obtained by measurements.
