Abstract :
The simulation of a PWM reactive power compensator (RPC) using PSPICE is presented in this paper. The RPC uses a three phase solid-state voltage source inverter having a fixed DC input voltage and the output terminals connected to the AC mains through filter inductors. The output voltage is controlled through the PWM control of the inverter switches and the RPC causes leading or lagging VAr to the AC system (and thus the load as well) as the transmission system is compensated. This compensator is suitable for a balanced three-phase load.<>
