Abstract :
A novel approach to design optimal gains for AGC of interconnected power system interconnected via parallel AC/HVDC links is proposed in this article. The design technique for optimal gains is based on evolutionary computation. To carry out the investigations, optimal AGC regulator is implemented on the system under consideration in the wake of 1% load perturbation in of the areas. The investigations of simulation results indicate that the proposed regulator offers better system dynamic response as compared to that achieved with AGC regulators designed using linear quadratic regulator theory.
