Abstract
This paper presents a hybrid gravitational search algorithm with sequential quadratic (GSA-SQP) method to solve dynamic economic dispatch (DED) of generating units with valve point effect. Two phase optimization scheme have proposed in this paper. In the first phase, GSA will explore the solution space directly. In the second phase, the SQP has applied for the improvement of GSA algorithm. Thus, SQP guided the GSA algorithm for better performance in the complex solution space. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed method for 10-unit test system have been taken for comparison of results with other heuristic optimization method. The GSA-SQP can find the global optimum results with a lesser computational time along with higher effectiveness and robustness.
