Abstract :
With the vast applications of computers in electric power systems and the development of computer systems in Electric Power Administration Bureau, electric power system management information systems (MIS) are now required. In order to achieve data sharing and office automation, Northeast China Electric Power Administration Bureau (NCEPAB) has designed and developed its own MIS. On this basis, The Production and Technology Division of Northeast China Electric Power Administration Bureau and Tsinghua University decided to develop a MIS subsystem-SMIS. The ideas and methodology of the SMIS system design are presented. It employs existing structures and data communication conditions and personal computers to develop and implement MIS on the basis of Dbase III and Foxbase/sup +/. The SMIS is renewed by means of harnessing an Oracle relational database to achieve better results. The SMIS is made up of an IBM4381, a PC486 and 8 PC386s. The 4381 serves as network center, the PC486 serves as working terminal, and the PC386s serve as terminals in each office (TMOF). Besides these, each important message in the divisions is allocated to a TMOF. A dull terminal for officer use will also be allocated in each department to find relevant data. Data communication adopts the Novell network and its protocol.<>
