  • Abstract
The cogeneration unit uses high-quality synchronous generators. Its power is over 1 MVA and simultaneously the harmonic distortion is very low, usually less than 5%. If this generator works in the self-operated mode, its operation is without any problems. Problems arise when the synchronous generator works in parallel operation with the network and when the neutral point of the star connection has to be connected to a neutral wire of the network. In this case the synchronous generator is overloaded very often and the neutral wire current is up to 3 times higher than nominal phase current. As conclusions are presented the methods of how the neutral wire current can be decreased.
