Abstract :
This paper proposes a modified and simple control algorithm for maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) based variable speed wind energy system. It uses DC-DC boost converter for MPPT. A three phase voltage source inverter (VSI) is used for interfacing between grid and wind energy conversion system (WECS). This ensures optimal use of wind resource. The scheme mentioned in this paper uses the measurement of DC voltage and current for achieving the MPPT point by controlling the duty cycle of DC-DC boost converter. The inverter side control is responsible for maintaining the DC voltage constant and injecting power flow into the grid. The entire system is verified in MATLAB/Simulink environment by carrying out the simulation for the proposed work. Various simulation results are presented in this paper for authenticating proposed work.
