  • Abstract
    A wide-area protection system (WAPS) based on high-speed communication network and protection IED is proposed in order to improve the performance of power system protection. Two feasible structures of WAPS are introduced. The structure of an agent based protection IED is also described. The protection data bus (PDB) and SHD based communication network are applied in communication for WAPS. Corresponding communication protocols are suggested to meet the need of data transmission.
