Abstract :
Studies the influence and relationships of five different acoustical cues on human sound localisation of band-pass filtered white noise with frequency ranges of 0.3-5, 0.3-7, 0.3-10, 0.3-14, 3-8, 4-9 and 7-14 kHz. The five cues examined were: inter-aural time delay, inter-aural level difference, inter-aural spectrum, monaural spectrum and band-edge spectral contrast. The sound localisation performance of three subjects was measured for each of these stimuli in an anechoic room. All subjects showed systematic mislocalisation on most of these stimuli. The pattern of mislocalisation varied among the subjects, but in a systematic manner related to the five different acoustical cues. These cues have been correlated with the subjects´ localisation responses on an individual basis, with the results suggesting that the internal weighting of cues may vary with the sound condition
