Abstract :
In this paper we focus on analyzing the effect factors of second harmonic generation in the photonic crystals which was presented in Optics Express Vol.12, No.22. Firstly we give the basic theory of second harmonic generation in photonic crystals, and then the main factors of affecting on SHG in centro-symmetric materials included the photonic band gap, the incident angle of pumping wave and the fill factor are analyzed. The results show that photonic band gap is the most significant factor which decides the generation of second harmonic. The optimal range of incident angle is 20deg~30deg and the optimal fill-factor is 0.6 respectively according to the simulated results based on the finite difference-time domain algorithm.
