Abstract :
This paper explains how it is possible to sustain a high level of technology combined with well-proven protection functionality, yet still provide the necessary continuity required by the users. It presents how an appropriate relay architecture and viable implementation strategies can meet today´s requirements in respect of continuity, life-cycle costs and delivery times. It also discusses the ongoing trends relevant to the field of protection and substation control.
