Abstract :
Based on the simulation of a typical power system, the effect of asynchronized synchronous generators on the transient stability of power systems is investigated. The comparison of transient performances between asynchronized synchronous generators and conventional synchronous generators is presented. The transient processes of power systems with different structure under different operation states are calculated and the critical clearing times of sudden short-circuit faults are given. The discussions show that the transient performances of asynchronized synchronous generators are much better than conventional synchronous generators and it is effective to install asynchronized synchronous generators in power stations for improving the transient stability of power systems, especially under the case of surplus reactive power on transmission lines connected to power stations.<>
