Abstract :
An equaliser can be implemented using a digital FIR filter. Results recorded matched the simulated results for amplitude response and group delay equaliser performance. Digital equalisation is easy to set-up and stable. Once the desired channel characteristics are entered in a table in software, the equaliser can be reconfigured by the push of a button. The result can be accurately repeated and the equaliser is not prone to drift and ageing. The digital equaliser can be further developed for linearisation and adaptive equalisation. Digitally controlled equipment will support the centralisation of Earth station monitoring and management.<>
