Abstract :
The paper presents simulation and experimental studies of a motor drive inverter with space vector modulation. A novel technique of current-dependent clamping for inverter legs is proposed. This discontinuous modulation method decreases the temperature by an average 12% thanks to the commutation frequency mitigation and additionally by 10% due to the current reduction. The benefits of the new control upon the six-step, pulse-width, and continuous space vector switching patterns are described.
