  • Abstract
    This paper is concerned with an analysis of propagation characteristics on the airport surface. First, we introduce a new surveillance system named as OCTPASS (Optically Connected Passive Surveillance System) which is under development at Sendai airport by our research institute `Electronic Navigation Research Institute (ENRI)´. The OCTPASS using the RoF (Radio over Fiber) has better interference immunity in multipath environment in comparison with the conventional system. As an experiment result, we show the tracks of the moving target and received power on the airport surface. Next, we simulate propagation characteristics on the airport surface. Numerical simulations show received powers computed by the ray tracing method. Finally, we discuss on the OCTPASS performance and the propagation characteristics on the airport surface from view points of numerical simulation and experiment.
