Abstract
It is important to estimate paddy field areas accurately in order to evaluate the production of rice and the the emission flux of the greenhouse gas “methane”. Accordingly, the authors developed a method to estimate the area of paddy fields in pixels from the CCT count of the Landsat TM data. The authors applied their method to 8 cities and towns located in Ishikari plain of Hokkaido and could estimate those paddy field areas within 2% error
