Abstract
An automated satellite reception and image processing system to analyze multi-spectral, AVHRR/HRPT data for the monitoring of vegetation, snow/ice coverage, forest fires and meteorological conditions has been developed by NASA for the Remote Sensing Center in Ulanbataar, Mongolia. The system, which was installed during April 1993, operationally produces cloud masked, registered, vegetation index maps of Mongolia. Daily, weekly and monthly composite vegetation index maps may be generated
