Abstract :
A metal-substrate slab waveguide with a metamaterial core is investigated. In a sharp contrast to the conventional slab waveguide, a complete band gap both for TE and TM modes can be found in the present structure. The propagation constant is discussed as a function of the thickness of the core and a stop band of thickness is found.
