Abstract
In this paper, characterization of waveguide slots in an FEM based EM analysis software has been discussed. Characterization has been done for longitudinal broad wall radiating slot and centered-inclined broad wall coupling slot. Using this characterization, a Ku band 8 times 8 planar array antenna has been designed with Elliot´s design equations. Its performance was first checked in an FEM analysis software. The antenna has been fabricated and tested. Both simulated and measured results have been presented, they are in good agreement.
